Jennie & Dave’s city wedding in Madison, WI

weddings

Where to even begin? Jennie and Dave are two of the sweetest and nicest people I’ve worked with. It’s obvious they truly cherish and adore one another and they treat everyone around them with respect and kindness. They actually got the wrong cake (discovered upon cutting into it) and just brushed it off and laughed. I was so inspired shooting their city wedding — I love how they took a yellow taxi as opposed to the standard limo. I was obsessed with the wind and the water during portraits … two of my favorite things.

Congratulations, Jennie and Dave! I’m so happy we’ve met. Enjoy just a small taste of your wedding images:

Shout-out to Jennyface for making the girls all look gorgeous. And to daffodil*parker for being the most talented florist yet again.

Megan & Brent Married at O’Brien Barn

weddings

I enjoyed every minute of this wedding. Not only are Megan and Brent awesome individuals … they are awesome together. They are just really nice, unfussy, and go-with-the-flow. Their barn wedding was an absolute reflection of that and everyone I talked to was having an amazing time.

Megan and Brent didn’t skip a detail either. O’Brien Barn was decked out in the coolest DIY rustic details. I loved their style and working with them was as good as it gets.

Wasn’t about to leave without a photo of myself with Megan and Brent. I simply adore them.

A huge congrats, Megan and Brent! Such an honor to spend your wedding day with you!

Megan and Brent incorporated several of my most favorite vendors into their wedding, including: Jennyface on makeup, daffodil*parker on flowers, and of course the O’Brien Barn as ceremony and reception venue.

Sarah rocks my little world: portraits.

portraits

I.am.so.excited.about.these.images.  The entire time I was shooting and editing them something pulled hard on my heart strings.  I love shooting stylish girls.  I love it.  I love shooting real girls who aren’t models … and showing them how insanely beautiful they are.  I’m just going to put this out into the universe now — this is my favorite thing.  I love shooting weddings but engagements, bridals and stylish portraits are what I thrive on.  The best decision I made this winter was to turn-down all paid work for 3 months and focus on learning, growing and shooting for myself.  The discoveries have been endless and I know exactly the direction in which I want to push my brand.

Sarah is so amazing and fun to shoot — such a natural beauty (enhanced for this shoot by Jennyface‘s makeup talent).  Sarah is one of my former brides and I adore her; I was very excited to have the opportunity to shoot her again.  Thank you, Sarah!!

No, these first two images are not tilted in-camera.  Sarah is actually bending that far backward!

I’ve been holding back (mainly because I’ve been so dang busy since starting my business), but I’m here to announce for real that I’m going to start offering way more stylish/fashionable (H.S. seniors and young women) portrait and boudoir photography (for now, boudoir is limited only to my brides).

Official announcements about the new extensions of my business are on the way in months to come.  But if you want to get on my calendar now, send me an email.  I’d love to hear from you and see if it’s a good match!

jody’s bridals

portraits weddings

Jody is freaking gorgeous.  I keep looking at these photos and thinking she’s Anna Pacquin.  On top of this, she is super sweet and down to earth … I adored her instantly.

I absolutely love shooting bridal sessions.  Before or after the wedding — it’s an awesome way to get some photos of any bride looking her best.  Jody looked extra amazing thanks to Jenny‘s (of Jennyface) hair and make-up talent.  Professional make-up makes such a difference in the success of any shoot.  And Jenny is a blast to work with!  I recommend her to any bride for engagement, wedding, bridal or boudoir make-up.

Unique and whimsical hairpieces always add something special to a bride’s look.  The flower piece Jody is wearing was custom designed for me (for my own wedding a couple years ago) by Myra Callan of Twigs & Honey.  She’s kind of a big deal now — designing pieces for celebrities even.

Photographer’s note:  If you follow my blog, you know I’m a 35L girl.  It’s my favorite lens ever.  But for Jody’s bridals I didn’t like the perspective I was getting with the 35 and I used the 85 1.8 instead.  I forgot how much I love this lens as well. It’s super sharp and focuses quickly.  Now I’m interested in checking out the 85L — do any of you have experience with it?  What do you think?

Lindsay & Jonathan’s Rooftop wedding in Downtown Madison

weddings

This was one awesome wedding.  Art museum rooftop, bright sun that faded into a big orange glow over dinner, creative and gorgeous food (yes, I was in photography heaven), and smiles coming from everyone.

When I first met Lindsay I thought she was constantly grinning because I had a camera.  But on her wedding day I realized that she is just the happiest girl alive and everyone can feel that warm energy radiating from her.  It’s completely genuine.  Jonathan is equally warm and he adores Lindsay.  Everyone can see they both respect and care for each other deeply.  I feel honored to have captured their day.

A special thanks to Jenny for making Lindsay look beyond gorgeous all day long:

Let the party begin.  I could have photographed the food for days if not caught-up in the whirlwind pace that is a wedding :)

Not only are Jonathan and Lindsay warm people … so are their families and friends.  I enjoyed being surrounded by that energy all day.  Mayor Dave was in attendance and he actually declared the day “Jonathan and Lindsay Day.”  There was a signed and sealed document and everything :)

Jonathan and Lindsay, thank you for letting me be a part of your day.  It was truly beautiful.  Congratulations and I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!

Shout-out to the vendors:  Ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner etc all took place at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and Fresco (this food was to die for).  Flowers by my fave florist, daffodil*parker (seriously, I recommend them to all my brides; I simply adore them).  Make-up by Jenny.  I will definitely find out the name of the DJ who was classy, played awesome music (maybe in part due to Jonathan having a radio show) and was not your typical annoying DJ :)
