The perfect desert roadtrip soundtrack?  The National, Damien Jurado (my all-time fave recording artist since forever ago), and Iron and Wine.  I adore the desert — like really really, everything about it. I want to drive through it, windows down and hair blowing in my face, for hours on end.  It’s the landscape, the culture, the people, the food, the powerlines.

I have an unhealthy obsession with powerlines.  When I see them I just stare in wonder — it’s similar to seeing windmills covering the Midwest landscape.  But better.  The desert powerlines are, well, powerful.  Huge and overwhelming.  Every day we were out there I wished I lived there.  A photographer’s dreamscape.  But does one tire of their own scenery?  If you live on the west coast, are you bored of the ocean?  If you live in the Pacific Northwest, do you still stand in awe of Puget Sound?

Below are A LOT of photos (to make up for my extremely wordy previous post) from our time driving to and being in Tucson, AZ (which is so amazing that I can’t put it into words and let’s just say Troy and I have seriously considered moving there for over a year until I started my business here in Madison).

I wish we could have spent time with our online friends from Purple Nickel, but everytime I looked at their Twitter feeds, they were jam-packed busy with shoots.  Next time.  Because we’ll be back before you know it!
