Maria & Clay at Lapham Peak Park

engagements

You might recognize the sweet, smart and light-hearted Maria & Clay from their recent wedding. This session was originally an “engagment” session, to take place prior to their wedding. But if you live in Wisconsin, you know the unpredictable weather we’ve been having … and their engagement session, thrice rescheduled, became a “day after” session. Maria and Clay didn’t mind at all though — they aren’t exactly traditional … they went on their honeymoon before their wedding. Love that.

Maria and Clay, thank you for being who you are … laid back and amazing to work with!

my best girl and her best guy.

personal

My best friend Natalie was visiting from NYC last week. She’s been my closest friend for almost a decade now and I’ve never seen her as happy as she is with Andy. We hung out and danced in the parking lot and ate pizza and wings and drank beer. The night was breezy and sunny. I love all of my time spent with people like this.

Megan & Brent’s Madison WI Engagement

engagements

I really just want to let this session speak for itself because I’m not sure my words can do all the fun any justice. Megan and Brent are kind, very fun and truly up for anything. I enjoyed shooting their session and hanging out with them so much. Cannot wait for their June barn wedding — they have amazing style. But like I said, I’ll let the images do the talking now.

Megan & Brent, thanks for being a wedding photographer’s dream come true! See you again soon.

Tamara & Mike’s Middleton Pheasant Branch Engagement

engagements

Tamara and Mike are so nice … and adventurous. They willingly agreed to jump up on a sticky dumpster, and then before I even got a shot … the dumpster CAVED IN. I was ready for some words or glares … but they just laughed. That’s when I knew they were pretty great.

It was a dreary weather day until the last half hour of our session at Pheasant Branch. The sun broke through the clouds and it was gorgeous. Loved it so much I couldn’t stop exclaiming. Thanks for being such good sports, Tamara and Mike. Can’t wait for your July wedding!

PS — I love the way Mike looks at Tamara. So sweet.

Lizzy

portraits

Lizzy is completely lovely. Beautiful inside and outside … confident yet gracious. She’s one of those people who really appreciates other people and is wonderful to be around.

I shot Lizzy and Scottie’s wedding when I was *just* starting as a photographer, back in August 2009. They somehow trusted me to capture their day before I even had a couple weddings under my belt (and before meeting me). They’re laid-back and amazing like that. In a few weeks they’ll be adding another little boy or girl to their family and I couldn’t be happier for them.

Here are a few from my session with Lizzy (total trooper, by the way. It was about 50 degrees and windy (felt like 20 degrees, imo) and she went barefoot into Lake Mendota).

undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined Disclaimer: This is my first and last maternity session. I adore Lizzy and her baby bump, but right now I’m not looking to expand my business into yet another direction :)
